White Design were appointed by Wiltshire Rural Housing Association to develop proposals for 10 houses on the edge of the rural settlement of Upper Minety. The site was brought forward as a rural exception site, allowing for affordable housing to be delivered where other development would not be acceptable under planning policy. The development was completed in March 2015.

Originally designed as Fairfield Infants School and Fairfield Road Higher Grade and Science School the schools opened their doors to pupils for the first time in October 1898. Designed by William Larkins Bernard FRIBA (1843-1922) for the Bristol School Board, the building is made out of Squared Pennant Sandstone rubble, red brick and terra cotta dressings, double Roman tiled roofs.

The completed extension to Thornwell Primary School replaced the infants building which unfortunately burnt down in 2011.  

 The brief called for the construction of a new infants and nursery facilities, for the 357 place primary school. The single storey extension allows a continual flow from the newly refurbished junior building and the new extension, with on the central axis, a new library is located for the whole school.
