Bathcraft House in Redlynch is a 6 unit affordable housing scheme for Wiltshire Rural Housing Association. The scheme builds on our innovative and cost effective solutions and achieves Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 on an industrial infill site. The homes use passive design principles to provide a well insulated and well ventilated building that is both well day-lit and protected from the risk of overheating.
The form and arrangement of the houses is a direct response to the unique surrounding context including the industrial units, level changes and easements across the site, neighbouring takeaway units, and near-by houses. The result is a strong conceptual scheme that establishes a new residential connection in an industrial environment, creating a lively street frontage with south facing gardens and balconies with a facade that is broken down in scale into individual townhouse dwellings.
The works included the demolition of existing industrial units on the site and complex party wall works to the neighbouring adjoining building, prior to the new dwellings taking shape.
