The design for 8 apartments and 3 new townhouses was developed through a comprehensive and thorough pre-planning and detailed planning process to ensure the development of a scheme that respectfully considered the surrounding conservation area. The construction responds to the adjoining Victorian properties and uses relevant materials in response to the area without reverting to pastiche. Local random rubble stone, lime render and timber cladding are proposed in a more contemporary interpretation of the adjacent terrace. The scheme is designed to use solid timber as the structural frame and is investigating community energy and rainwater harvesting systems as well as providing a recycling store and bike parking to encourage water re-use and more sustainable transport. The design has been developed to obtain Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. The scheme was completed in 2014.
