As part of a feasibility study for Hornsea Boat Compound proposals looked to enhance and expand the existing facility whilst offer a destination at the end of Hornsea promenade. A number of factors had to be considered with regard to flooding issues, sensitivity of nearby residents and a number of easements which ran across the site.
The feasibility report, completed in autumn 2013, included possible approaches for the site in response to a number of consultation events. The main attraction for the space was a raised viewing area associated with a small visitors centre and eatery. This feature offered extensive views up and down the coast and would provide a flexible space for a busy water sports calendar.
