White Design won the design competition to provide a design for the Stokes Croft Gateway as part of the Local sustainable Transport Fund for Bristol City Council. The proposal included street furniture which provides a gateway feature to the space and a stage for its users.
The surface treatment palette was chosen by Bristol City Council but manipulated through the design process to enhance the perception of arrival into a different part of the city and to enforce the idea of a defined gateway space. The street furniture is bespoke, designed for robustness and to act as a blank canvas for street art, events and informal gathering. A cycle park offers commuters a opportunity to stop and have a coffee.
White Design produced a tender package of drawings for BCC to take through to construction on site.
