White Design was commissioned to facilitate a series of workshops to establish a vision and design direction for a new co-housing group in Bristol. The process included a series of design workshops to explore the philosophy of the group and their aims and objectives. The design workshops used a site in St George in the East of the city, to explore the group’s approach to creating a new community in the city through house design, connections to the surrounding neighbourhood and community behaviour.
White Design developed several design options using physical models, which could be understood by a wide range of ages and abilities. The outcomes from the workshops were then used to create a group report, which could be used to support their site searches and provided a detailed sustainability checklist and construction specification.
All house designs were costed to provide the framework to enable site aquisition and necessary fund raising activities.
