White Design is one of the founding organisations of Modcell and we are particularly proud of Modcell's recent CIOB award, celebrating excellence in academic research and industry innovation.
White Design use the Modcell system on many of our projects due to its excellent thermal performance.
Modcell utilises the excellent thermal insulation qualities of straw bale and hemp construction to form prefabricated panels. It is an innovative, offsite-manufactured wall and roof cladding system that can be quickly and efficiently installed, creating buildings with thermal performance up to three times higher than the current building regulations require.
The International Innovation and Research Awards run by the CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) seeks to celebrate excellence in academic research and industry innovation.
Twenty four countries took part and submitted more than 200 entries. The panel was an 18- strong panel of judges of leading figures from academia and industry.
Professor Stuart Green, Chair of the Judging Panel said, “It has been immensely gratifying to see the highest ever number of entries to the CIOB International Innovation & Research Awards. I have also been delighted with the overall quality of the applications across all categories. Especially rewarding this year was to see so many strong entries from industry in the innovation categories".
