planning submitted for chalk farm

—April 26, 2017

White Design recently submitted a planning application for a new house at Chalk Farm, near Isleham in Cambridgeshire. The proposal is to demolish an existing farmhouse and to replace it with a new, two-storey, house with single-storey annex and garage. The house will also have a basement for storage. The layout of the building on the site has been considered to retain the existing views past the house to the menage to the south and to maximise the opportunity for solar energy (both PV and solar hot water panels are proposed). The form of the building, with an overhanging terrace to the south, provides solar shading to minimise overheating. The layout of the proposed dwelling (and greenhouse) forms a courtyard to protect the garden from the wind, whilst allowing sunlight into the garden space.
